Grief Doula + Mental Health Counseling
Grief is any and all type of loss and change in life. Grief is something we all have gone through (or will go through!). Big or small, I’m honored to guide and hold and grow/go through this sometimes unbelievably difficult change with you.
As a Grief Doula and Mental Health Counselor, Julie works with clients through loss and change in their lives. This could be relationship issues, transitions, and communication. She offers individual, group and family Grief Processing.
What is a Grief Doula? A Grief Doula is someone who educates, advocates and cares for people experiencing Grief. Or in Doula terms: educates, cares for and assists in delivering to the surface. Being a child griever who has learned about my own and other’s journies from a young age to present tense, I am ready to guide you through your own journey in balancing grief and life.
Weathervane Counseling services offer clients ways to prepare, acknowledge, and live through the unique challenges we face. Working towards or through change is a process that takes time, no journey is the same. At Weathervane we acknowledge that grief comes in all forms, from many sources.

Grief Support Groups
Weathervane Grief Groups are designed as courageous spaces to learn about, feel and process difficult changes in life . These intimate group sessions allow people to come together and make space to learn about and understand their grief.
Weathervane Grief Groups can be held in private via collaboration with your company that has lost a valued member of your team, or through individuals and/or families that contact us. We also have public offerings through our own practice. Please sign up for our News to be notified or click below to see what’s happening now!
“Julie gave me the gift to develop a healthy relationship with grief, like I would a loved one... I still grieve. The difference is that I now know a healthier way to respond other than retreating and dissociating.”
— Shane Bernardo, Food As Healing

Weathervane is a Counseling & Consulting organization that collaborates with individuals and companies seeking reflection, guidance and actions steps towards being their best, most authentic selves.
Detroit, where Weathervane was born and is based, continues to shape the practice in relationship with its citizens, organizations, and culture. We appreciate the ability to travel to a client’s space(s) - whether local or international, meet virtually, or wherever you may feel comfortable. We begin all client relationships from a place of learning about you, in your comfort zone.
Julie, Weathervane’s director, is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Grief Doula, and supreme hug giver. Her work is informed by continuous learning around the intersections of social and cultural awareness, and the traumatic death of her brother as a young person.
At Weathervane we know that navigating through times of change, loss, or growth can be difficult. We are here to support your journey with love and accountability.
